My First Alteration!
My Grandmother accidently bleached the cuffs on my Granddad's shirt. Since this is a shirt he wears for a group at the church it needed to be saved. So she suggested making it short sleeved. I volunteered. :)
I used one of my Daddy's shirts as a "template"
It had to be readjusted a lil bit :)
Here is the finished product :)
My first successful alteration!

A Beautiful Tunic
In basic sewing I class we made pants. In BSII we made a tunic. I think I found beautiful fabric. Unfortunately its a lil snug. This will end up being a present for my mom.
The finished product....with the poofy sleeves
Sleeve flounces (using french seams and side slips
MY MOM LOVES IT!

Simple sew dress from Simplicity. I made it for Easter 2012. Wanted something new. Wanted to have an attainable deadline. Had to make a muslin mock up first. Pattern adjustments fit!!! Let's cut some fabric :)
First outfit with a zipper. I think I've got the hang of it.
The dress is actually two different sizes but it is one piece top and bottom.
I added the pocket outline for more "casual" dresses ;) Considering a jean dress from this pattern.
I picked my favorite fabric .... black and white LOL
Came out well ... don't you think?

I have the bug!
Ok so I'm entirely too excited about my new hobby. I bought a sewing machine in Dec 2011, started sewing classes in Jan 2012, went to a sewing expo in Feb 2012.....AND NOW I'm going to buy an embroidery machine!!!
I have an actual hobby. And now I know how addicts feel. LMAO!!! I wake up in the middle of the night with sewing ideas and things I want/need.
I'm very creative but I can't draw to save my life! So an embroidery machine will let me be creative and hide my poor drawing skills. :)
I have decided to by a Viking H class 600. You will see new projects from it soon!

The Skirt! a project on my own
OK, so after I finished my pants I said I was going to make a skirt. A brown skirt. I've been looking for a brown skirt for over a year. Every time I saw one it wasn't the "right brown" I wanted or the style was wrong or my size wasn't available. So I've made one.
Ok, so since I'm short it ended up being a long skirt. That wasn't my goal but it's an easy fix.
Here it is....

My outfit at work :)
Finished Pants!!! First sewing project complete :)
Pants done! Elastic waist, easy sew pattern from Simplicity.
So happy! Had to go back and tighten the waist and correct the front crotch length.
The Sewing Studio in Maitland, FL & Noel (my sewing teacher) are awesome! I truly enjoyed my experience and Noel made it plan simple and gave awesome background and info about sewing and fit and pattern choices along the way.
Here it is on...

Back - Look at the pattern across the butt! It matched up!
